Massive Update on Former Wimbledon Finalist Agnieszka Radwanska Amid Comeback Speculations

Agnieszka Radwanska, the 33-year-old tennis professional, was a gem of a player for Poland and the WTA. She is the first Polish person to reach the finals of a Grand Slam in the Open Era, the first to win the WTA Finals, and also the first to claim a singles title. Therefore, it’s safe to say that her game put Poland on the map of women’s tennis.

However, in the case of WTA, she has won 20 career singles titles and was voted WTA fan-favorite for six consecutive years. Further, besides her appearance in the finale of the 2012 Wimbledon champion, she climbed to the semifinals of the Australian Open twice. Though Radwanska’s glory was short-lived as injuries forced her to bid farewell to tennis in 2018. Now that former world no.2 has recovered from her injuries, she is gearing up to make a comeback.

A Probable Comeback From Agnieszka Radwanska

At the beginning of the year 2018, Radwanska suffered a back injury which kept her out of the circuit for two months. Later, she incurred a foot injury, which hampered her performance throughout the year. Hence, Agnieszka dropped her racket forever. However, now, after almost four years, she might grace the tennis courts again.

Though it is still not clear if the pole is going to participate in the tours. Some believe that she might just be coming back to try her luck in the Polish League. Whereas others think she will join the Tennis Channel’s commentary team for Roland Garros.

Radwanska’s famous rivalries

Agnieszka’s game used to be full of surprise. People even honored her with several nicknames, such as “Ninja” for pulling the most difficult shots with ease. Coming to her rivalries, one of her major rivals was Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish tennis professional. Currently, the score is 11-6, favoring Wozniacki. Although, Radwanska’s comeback won’t be able to mend or take a lead in this rivalry, as Wozniacki retired in 2020.

However, her rivalry with Angelique Kerber is still alive. Kerber, the German tennis ace and former world no.1 first locked horns with the Pole in 2008. Agnieszka has a lead of 2-0 in the grass and clay-based matches, but in hard courts, Kerber leads by 5-4. If Agnieszka Radwanska makes a comeback to the tours, all eyes will be glued to the upcoming US Open to see if she could settle the score.
