‘the Lady Followed Me’ – Serena Williams Reveals Hilarious Tactics Used to Hire Olympia’s Tennis Coach

American Tennis star Serena Williams is one of the most followed sports personalities in the world. The 40-year-old is currently enjoying her break from tennis. She recently appeared in an episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

In the talk show, Serena answered many questions regarding her personal and professional life. One such question she answered was about her daughter Olympia.

Olympia’s Coach Doesn’t Know He Is Coaching Serena Williams’ Daughter

Answering the question regarding her daughter’s tennis skills, Serena said, her tennis skills are alright, and she believes Olympia is more interested in playing princess games now.

Although looking at Olympia’s interest in tennis, Serena has hired a private tennis tutor for her. As she admitted, she doesn’t have the patience required for being a tutor.

However, according to Williams, she didn’t tell her daughter’s tennis coach who she was beforehand. But the instructor only guessed who she would coach because she follows Williams on Instagram.

“So, I signed her up for a class; you know a private teacher. And so, she came in, and I was like, I didn’t want to tell her. But I was on my Instagram, I was like, oh so I have a class for Olympia, blah blah. And the lady followed me. So she was like, It could be me. So she didn’t know it was gonna be her, but she must be in the running of that,” she said.

Serena Invests in a British Sports Venture

The tennis legend has used her time away from sport wisely and has been very active on the business front. Williams, a former world No. 1, got into the venture business nine years ago.

23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has invested more than $1 million in a British sports venture “OpenSponsorship.” Founded by Ishveen Jolly, it is a site that helps athletes find sponsors. Serena made this investment through her VC firm, Serena Ventures.

Talking about the investment decision, Serena said that she wanted to open an Airbnb-type company for helping the Olympians who want to be influencers and are looking for sponsorship. As there is a huge increase in the coverage of women’s sports but the sponsorship has lagged behind.
