The boxing world recently witnessed one of the biggest heavyweight main events in the history of the sport. Tyson Fury defeated Dillian Whyte in front of 94000 fans. In an interview, during the build-up of the highly anticipated WBA light heavyweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol, Hearn took a shot at Frank Warren Queensbury Promotions.

Eddie Hearn believes Fury Vs Whyte flopped

Even though Wembley Arena was packed with fans witnessing one of the greatest heavyweight boxers carry on his legacy, Hearn claims that this fight did not perform well with respect to streaming. Furthermore, he goes on to state the reason he thinks the PPV sales didn’t do well.

According to the British promoter, there’s a reason why the PPV numbers of Fury Vs Whyte aren’t being discussed. He stated, “[PPV numbers] Hasn’t really been discussed, which generally means it didn’t do very well because when it done well you just tell everyone.”

Even though the event was a success, the Chairman of Matchroom Boxing thinks it didn’t generate as many PPV buys as it possibly could. However, he would hope for a much different outcome for the upcoming Alvarez Vs Bivol fight streaming on DAZN.

What happened in Fury Vs Whyte?

On 23rd April 2022, the WBC and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury emphatically knocked out the WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte in the sixth round. ‘The Gypsy King’ extended his unheated record to 32-0-1.

This fated fight was Fury’s last and final fight before his retirement. ‘The Gypsy King’ has announced his retirement from the sport of boxing. Consequently, the highly awaited matchup between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury seems unlikely to come to fruition.
