The Wiggles star Anthony Field has celebrated his group reaching no.1 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 by getting a bold new arm tattoo.

The Australian band, who are also celebrating 30 years of success, had an historic Hottest 100 win in 2021 with their cover of Tame Impala’s Elephant.

Triple J’s Hottest 100 is an annual music listener poll hosted by the publicly-funded, national Australian youth radio station, Triple J.

Anthony, 58, shared a video of himself getting the tattoo done on Instagram, which depicted a retro, old fashioned boxer, with the words ‘Hottest 100 champions’ around it.

In the clip he can be seen reclining in a chair as the tattooist works their magic, before showing off the end result and admiring the design in a full-length mirror.

He added the caption: ‘This is why we wear skivvies #tattoo.’

Fans were loving the tattoo and were quick to congratulate the star on the inking and The Wiggles’ chart success.

‘This is mega! Love it! Well earned and looks epic,’ one wrote.

‘Oh yeah!! Top stuff mate!’ another added.

Children’s entertainers The Wiggles recently extended the group by welcoming newcomers Evie Ferris, Kelly Hamilton, John Pearce and Tsehay Hawkins.

They joined existing members Anthony, Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce and Emma Watkins.

Award-winning Ethiopian dancer Tsehay joins alongside Evie, a Taribelang woman from central Queensland who was formerly in The Australian Ballet.

They’re joined by John, who is of Australian and Filipino descent, and known for his work with band The Justice Crew.

Kelly, who is of Australian and Chinese heritage, has previously performed in shows like Sesame Street.

Anthony had said in a statement: ‘The Wiggles were created during a time when early childhood educational concepts were the focus.

‘As society has evolved, we have embraced the need for diversity and inclusiveness and want children all over the world to see themselves reflected on the screen.

‘It’s so important that The Wiggles continue to evolve along with our society. This is the first step towards shaping The Wiggles for the next 30 years, taking us in a direction that truly represents and serves our community more inclusively.’

The band formed back in 1991, with Anthony being the only remaining original musician in the group.
