Who is the defending champion at the 2022 Betfred British Masters?
Richard Bland is the defending champion for the 2022 edition of the event. He won the tournament in 2021 and ended with an overall score of 13-under-par. As a result, he had to enter into an epic two-man playoff to win.
Moreover, Bland carded a final round of six-under-par, 66 to enter the playoff with the fellow Italian pro-Guido Migliozzi. His final round included three birdies on the opening nine holes. As a result, he moved out in three-under-par, 33. He made three more birdies on the back nine to take the event into extra holes. In the end, Richard made a par on the first playoff hole to win the event in style.
Winners’ payout at the 2022 Betfred British Masters
This week’s DP World Tour event included some of the top names in golf battling to win the event. Richard Bland is some of the big names battling it out at The Belfry. Bland disappointingly missed the cut. As a result, he could not be present for the weekend at the golf course. And Lee Westwood, another big name in the field this week, missed his chances to grab the title as he too missed the cut at the challenging golf course. Danny Willet, who made it to the weekend at The Belfry, is the host of the event this week.

Moreover, the total prize money purse for this week’s DP World Tour event stands at a whopping £1.85 million, and the winner of the event will take home a prize money share worth £308,333. That is the standard 16 percent winner’s share for the current season on the circuit. Furthermore, the professional finishing in the second position will take home a paycheque worth £205,555.

Danny Willet, the tournament host, finished the event with an overall score of five-under-par. As a result, he is currently tied for 15th position as the event still awaits its completion. Moreover, he carded a final round of one-under-par 71 to finish well within the top 20 on the leaderboard. But only time will tell whether he will be able to stay in that position.
