Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown Welcomes Unfamiliar Role in New Franchise: “I’ve Been In An Offense Where I’ve Been Getting All The Attention”
The Arizona Cardinals just nailed the opportunity to strike a deal and acquire a talented wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, amid the 2022 NFL draft. The Oklahoma alumni reverted to the excitement to join the NFC West team and eyes to get one-on-one matchups to showcase his hidden abilities.
During his stint with the Baltimore Ravens, Brown was always at the center of focus. But this time, he won’t be the only No. 1 wide receiver on the team. Star WR DeAndre Hopkins will play along his side with some more talents to compete inside the franchise.

One of the main reasons Brown cited in his trade was the inability of the Ravens’ system and on-field strategies. In a recent interview, he broke his silence on requesting a silent trade from the franchise and his intentions to play with other NFL teams.

But now, he is more than happy to join a side with many superstars and play under a young quarterback, Kyler Murray. He prefers to play with players who are much more experienced and talented than him rather than playing in a team where he is the center of attraction.

“In college, I had guys around me, (Cowboys WR) CeeDee Lamb,” Brown said. “I’ve played with (Ravens tight end) Mark Andrews. It’s not about the targets, it’s about what type of targets. … I’ve been in an offense (in Baltimore), where I’ve been getting all the attention, I’ve been getting the cloud coverages. I’m excited to get some one-on-one matchups and spread the field out,” Brown spoke to Darren Urban of the Cardinals website.
The star is coming off his best season as a pro and broke the 1,000-yard barrier for the first time in his NFL career. He recorded 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
Hollywood Brown broke his silence on requesting a trade from the Baltimore Ravens
In hopes of improving their offensive unit, Arizona Cardinals sent their first-round pick (23rd overall) in exchange for star wide receiver Hollywood Brown and a 100th overall pick to the Baltimore Ravens. Moments after the trade occurred, Brown appeared on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast and revealed that he asked for a trade following the 2021 season. He mentioned that things were not working for him inside the Ravens.
“I didn’t go out and make anything public, I just kept working. I talked to Lamar about it after my second year. … After my third year leading up to the end of the season, he [Jackson] was not playing. I let him know again like, ‘Yeah bro, I can’t do it.” Brown said.
He also mentioned that Jackson was not just the sole reason behind his decision. “I love Lamar. It’s just the system wasn’t for me. I love all of my teammates… but it was something I had to think about for myself.” Brown added to his explanation.
Well, it will be exciting to see how Brown will evolve as a player in the Cardinals and prove viable for the team.
