My ex husband tried to get an invite to my new wedding – I couldn’t believe what he did when I said no

A WOMAN was left baffled when her ex-husband asked to be invited to her wedding with her new man.

Taking to Reddit her ex asked if he was an a**hole for wanting to be included in his former spouse’s nuptials.

In his post he explained that he had been with his partner for seven years and that they have two children together.

A few months after their divorce his ex found love with her now fiance, but he claims that he has maintained a ‘great relationship’ with her family and is still invited to family gatherings.

He explained: “I can tell my ex is not too happy about it but she sucks it up for the sake of the kids and her family.

“Now they’re planning their wedding for sometime and they just gave out invites. I wasn’t included. Our daughters were but I wasn’t.”

Furious at the lack of invite, he then contacted the bride’s family to beg for an invite. 

“I contacted her family, mainly her sisters and her mom and I expressed how upset I am that I’m excluded from the wedding and I’m even more upset that they didn’t do something about it,” he added. 

“They say that it’s not up to them and it’s the couple’s decision and they wish they had me there but they don’t want to piss my ex wife off by going against her wishes.

“Later my ex called me and scolded me for calling her family to complain and asked me why I feel entitled to an invite to her wedding. 

“I told her that I still feel like part of the family and it’s weird that I’m invited to all these family gatherings but excluded from this one and I think we can be civil and supportive towards each other.”

The bloke went on to say that he thought it would be beneficial for their children to see him being supportive but his ex-wife dubbed him ‘entitled.’

Despite his insistence on being invited, fellow Redditors were quick to agree with the bride.

Commenting on the post, one wrote: “You say yourself that your ex wife isn’t happy you’re included in her family gatherings. 

“Of course you’re not invited to her wedding. You’re being weird calling her family and complaining about it.”

“Straight facts- you aren’t part of the family and are owed no invite,” agreed another.

While a third added: “You’re divorced. It’s over, legally. Stop continuing to manipulate your ex in the guise of it being for your children.”
