Naomi Osaka Recalls Her Difficult Time While Announcing Herself as the Cover Face of Self Magazine

Despite the difficulties in her career, Naomi Osaka remains one of the most promising players on the tour. The 24-year-old, struggling with form since the start of the 2022 season, showed a slight sign of a comeback in Miami where she reached the finals. However, she failed to reciprocate the same on the clay court as she kicked off her clay campaign with a second-round loss in Madrid.

However, despite all the losses, she continues to be one of the most promising faces for brands. The highest-paid women athlete in the world, Osaka, recently featured on a magazine cover.

Naomi Osaka becomes the face of SELF magazine

As is known by many, Naomi Osaka is a highly introverted person. However, she is fairly active on her social media handles. Especially on Instagram. Using her Instagram handle, the former World No. 1 gives regular updates to her fans about her personal and professional life.

Yesterday, she took to her Instagram, announcing herself to be the cover face of SELF Magazine. The women centric magazine focuses on women that specialize in health, beauty, and style. She made the announcement, recalling her past few months.

In the past few months, Osaka has been suffering from mental health issues that have not only affected her as a player but also as a person. Recently, she admitted she is on the way to recovering from these issues. She also asserted of having a positive attitude despite all the issues.

Recalling the tough time, she wrote, “These past couple of months have been sometimes difficult to navigate but I learned a lot about myself and I’m really grateful for that.”

Complimenting Osaka’s positive attitude, the magazine also wrote “Naomi Osaka is just getting started” on their cover.

Osaka on her way to a steady comeback

Naomi Osaka kicked off her 2022 season at the Melbourne Summer Set 1. Looking in good shape, she sailed over her opponents. However, she was forced to withdraw before her semifinal clash owing to an abdominal injury. Recovering from the injury, she went on competing at the Australian Open, only to suffer a third-round loss.

Taking a month-long break, she made a comeback on the tour at the Indian Wells. However, failing to recover from her low form, she suffered a second-round loss. However, after a series of losses, she made a massive comeback in Miami, coming out as a runner-up.

Going ahead in the tour, she has kicked off her clay-court season with a second-round loss in Madrid. Keeping her hopes high, she will next play in Rome.
