Who are Vicky and Casey White?

Vicky White, 56, was an assistant corrections director at the Lauderdale County jail in Alabama.

She is accused of helping murder suspect, Casey White, 38, to escape jail, and an arrest warrant was issued against her.

Casey has been in jail since 2015 and is serving a 75-year sentence after he was accused of the murder of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway.

While the two are not related, authorities believed they shared a “special relationship” and claim that the two have been in a relationship since 2020.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said, “We have confirmed through independent sources and other means that there was in fact a relationship between Casey White and Vicky White outside of her normal work hours — not physical contact, but a relationship of a different nature.

“We were told Casey White got special privileges and was treated differently while in the facility than the other inmates.”

The investigators were told by other inmates that Casey “was getting extra food on his trays” and “was getting privileges no one else got. And this was all coming from her.”

Are Vicky and Casey White still missing?

Authorities announced on May 9 that they have apprehended Vicky White and Casey White in Southern Indiana.

The police traced the pair to Indiana on May 8 after they received a call about an abandoned vehicle matching the description of the truck Casey White and Vicky White was last seen to be driving.

Casey White was reportedly driving a Ford F-150 when he was pursued by law enforcement officers in Evansville, Indiana.

The pursuit ended in a crash, and Casey White reportedly surrendered to police while Vicky White was transported to a hospital to treat her injuries.

The US Marshals told CNN that Vicky White was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police have not specified the extent of her injuries.

How did Vicky and Casey White escape?

Vicky White ordered for Casey White to be prepared for transport on April 29 to bring him for a mental health evaluation.

However, authorities later found that Casey White was not scheduled for a mental health evaluation that day and found Vicky White’s police car abandoned at the location.

Leading up to the pair’s disappearance, Vicky White had claimed she planned to retire from her position at the county jail and had sold her home below market value.

She sold her house on April 18 for $95,550 even though it is valued at $204,700 on the Lauderdale County list.

Singleton said, “Being the boss and over the transport, she just informed the booking officer that she was going to carry him to the courthouse and drop him off, which was a flagrant violation of policy.

“But I’m sure because it was her boss, the booking officer didn’t question it.”
