EA Strikes a Wobbly Chord With Lord of the Rings Fans Through an Ambitious Announcement – “Is That the Best They Could Do?”

Electronic Arts is currently going through a rough phase as most of its big games haven’t performed well lately. Plus, the perspective of the fans towards the publisher after the debacle of last year’s Battlefield 2042 has been skeptical to say the least. Well, probably aiming to put all the negatives to an end, the company has now announced a new game based on The Lord of the Rings franchise.

In an extended partnership with Middle-Earth Enterprises, EA will soon release a mobile game on The Lord of the Rings.

However, as soon as this news broke out on the internet, majority fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

EA irks The Lord of the Rings fandom with a ‘mobile game’ announcement

Free-to-play mobile games have really taken over the world in a short span of time. Blockbusters like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty Mobile, Garena Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and many other offerings have introduced a new way of gaming to the players. They enjoy these titles on-the-go while also experiencing amazing graphics.

Apart from ruling the mobile platform, free-to-play games have also generated massive revenue in the last few for their respective publishers.

That must have been one of the key reasons why Electronic Arts just announced a mobile game based on The Lord of the Rings saga. It will make this project under its extended partnership with Middle-Earth Enterprises. The mobile title will be called The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth.

However, the gaming community wasn’t too much happy about this news. And it was clear from majority of the reactions of the fans on the social media. Many of them were simply clueless as to why EA decided to go for a mobile title instead of making a proper AAA game for the consoles or PC.
