I hate having to go to work – it’s making me depressed

DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS made redundant a year ago and although I have been successful and found a new job, I do not enjoy it.

I stay in bed until it is time to go to work.

I really miss my former colleagues, all of whom have found other jobs too

I really miss my former colleagues, all of whom have found other jobs too.

We keep in touch regularly but they were my closest friends and I am really missing the laughs, their friendship and the nights out we used to have.

I’m a 60-year-old woman. I feel really down.

I can’t be bothered with anything anymore.

My husband goes out to work each morning but I struggle to drag myself out of bed – and crawl back in as soon as I get home.

DEIDRE SAYS: Well done for getting another job.

It will take time for you to get used to your new position and the new colleagues too. Try to see this as a new chapter.

Your colleagues were a big part of your professional and personal life but make the effort to arrange to meet up with them now and again so you can remain friends.

If you continue to feel low you may be becoming depressed, in which case do talk to your doctor.
