I’m a fashion expert – how to drop a dress size without doing ANY work

SUMMER is almost here which means more skin on show and added pressure to be “summer body ready.”

But you needn’t go to extreme lengths or try quick-fix diets to feel more confident in your summer wardrobe.

Wear your tops tucked in to highlight your waist – it creates a neater silhouette which makes you look slimmerGetty

Instead, why not try one of these clever fashion hacks, which will help you drop a dress size instantly without breaking a sweat?

Here, fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend shows you five styling tricks you can use to shed the pounds – without shelling out time or money.

TUCK IT IN

While we all love a baggy top we can just throw on and go – on trend tired styles can make you look like you’re wearing a massive tent style top. And look bigger.

No matter your shape or size when you tuck your tops into your bottoms you create a neater and cleaner silhouette shape, which makes you look slimmer.

BUDGET COUTURE

I’m a fashion expert, here are two ways to make any outfit look high end

THAT’S JEAN-IUS

I’m a fashion pro….My tip will cinch your jeans if the waist is too baggy

Plus, keeping things smooth will mean less lumps and bumps and hide love handles.

The easiest way is to just wear a bodysuit, then you don’t have to constantly be tucking it in.

V NECKS

Open up your neck and face with a V neck that not only flatters your bust but your waistline too.

The strong shape of the “V” points down to the smallest part of your body (your waist), and the angular shape helps emphasise your narrow middle.

Even more flattering and slimming is a “V” neck wrap dress that cinches you in and creates that strong hourglass silhouette.

TAILORED BLAZER

Slip on a tailored blazer over any look to frame your outfit, and your waist.

Nipped in darting at the waist will give your body definition, even if the blazer is worn open.

A tailored blazer is a wardrobe staple and looks particularly good over a flowy dressNot known, clear with picture desk

Look for styles with padded shoulders as this will accentuate an hourglass figure by making the top of your body wider, and waist smaller.

Plus it gives your look more structure even if you’ve got a flowy dress on underneath.

BELT IT

It’s an oldie but a goodie and a budget way to transform your figure and outfit.

A cinched in belt on your waist brings any excess and unnecessary fabric in, that makes you look slimmer around the middle.

If the thought of wearing a restrictive or heavy helt in the summer makes you sweat just use ribbon.

A contrasting colour, for example black ribbon on white, will create a focal point on your figure.

This draws the eye into the centre of your body and makes you appear smaller.

POSITIONED PLEATS

Pleats cover a multitude of sins and are comfortable to wear as they glide over your figure, while vertical lines create a longer and leaner figure.

COLLIN THE SHOTS

Positioned pleats on top and bottom will make your whole body look slimmer.

With a top and skirt, or dress, that has pleats that point to the centre of your body, they give the illusion of your body being drawn into a central point – and make you look more svelte.
