Man, 40, fighting for life after being stabbed in the neck at hospital as suspect, 42, held by cops
A MAN is fighting for his life after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck at a hospital in Newcastle.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested after the incident at St. Nicolas Hospital in Gosforth on Tuesday afternoon.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of an assault at around 12.20pm.
Officers found the 40-year-old victim had sustained stab wounds to his neck and back.
He is currently in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The 42-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

Cops have now launched an investigation into the incident.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Police received a report of an assault at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth on Tuesday, May 10.

“At around 12.20pm officers attended the scene where a man had sustained neck and back injuries consistent with a bladed article.
“A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

“An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.”
