Revealed: The Details Behind the Extravagant Cars Driven During the F1 Miami GP Drivers’ Parade

Ahead of every F1 race, the drivers are chauffeured around a circuit in classic cars and as a parade in front of the fans. And the inaugural Miami Grand Prix was no different. The original Miami Grand Prix schedule included a team principal parade as well, but that did not materialize.

However, the driver’s parade went on as planned. All the drivers were driven around in cars by their manufacturers. Following the Mercedes-AMG safety car, the grid lined up with all the drivers inside the beautiful convertible cars.

The front row of this parade with the two McLarens at the front. Daniel in a Mclaren 600lt worth around $250,000 followed by Lando in a Mclaren 720s worth $300,000. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in their Mercedes Benz AMG GT and GTR roadster, with a combined total of more than $350,000. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, in beautiful Ferraris, Leclerc’s ride called the Monza SP2 is worth a whopping 2.5 million. And Mick Schumacher, the Haas man, drove himself in a Ferrari 812 GTS same as Sainz, worth more than 400,000 USD.

The Aston Martin drivers paraded in Vanquish and DBS Superleggera Volantes combined worth more than $600,000. Whereas the Red Bull Racing men came in Rolls Royce Dawns worth 400,000 each.

It was quite a show of supercars at the Miami Grand Prix parade. As each stands around half a million dollars’ worth. But the Monegasque stole the show with the Ferrari Monza SP2 worth 2.5 million dollars.

F1 first-ever team principal parade that never took place

Originally, the Miami Grand Prix schedule included the team principal parade. It would have been the first of its kind, but they canceled the idea before the weekend. And Toto Wolff is a relieved man as he said, “I’d rather avoid the parade. I don’t think that team principals or team owners should be waving at the fans. I love the fans but it should be the drivers who are in the forefront.”

The popularity of the sport because of the Netflix series Drive to Survive is bringing a lot of media attention. And this has given the people working in the background an identity, especially the team principals. The media attention brings a lot of demands and the team principal parade was simply an answer to the call of the fans.

We might see it sooner rather than later.
