Chase Elliott is the current leader in driver’s standings. The no. 9 driver of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been on top for a long, long time now. With a win at the recently concluded Dover Motor Speedway race, Elliott extended his lead further. Most recently in Darlington, Chase crashed in the qualifying to add one more incident to his tally.
The Hendrick driver has been involved in 18 racing incidents in 2022 so far. That’s massive for a driver to be involved in these many incidents yet hold on to the top. Chase is tied with Woods Brothers Racing driver Harrison Burton who’s involved in as many racing incidents.
To call the statistics shocking is purely justified. For someone to be involved in the most incidents, yet leading the championship by 65 points is a big deal. Admittedly, the Hendrick Motorsports driver won one race and has two stage wins, three top-5s, and nine top-10s in the 12 races he took part in.
Where do others stand as compared to Chase Elliott?
Burton, the driver who’s tied with Elliott is in 29th place. The Woods Brothers driver has amassed 169 points so far, which is a whopping 284 points less than that of Chase. Honestly, that’s not even half of what Chase Elliott has amassed.
Harrison is yet to pick up a win, a stage win, or top-5 and top-10 finishes. Moreover, when asked about Brad Keselowski by a fan, “What about Brad Keselowski?” the stats go like Brad had 13 incidents in total. 10 in races, 1 each in practice, qualifying, and exhibition event in 2022.
