Pepe’s contract is understood to have another four years left to run – but does possess a £43m release clause.
Prior to Diaz’s January exit, Pepe had started just two league games for Porto.
On the day of their former winger’s exit, however, Pepe stepped in and scored against Maritimo – and hasn’t looked back.
In total he has made 40 appearances this season, netting six goals and laying on five assists.
