⁩Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Compares Rob Gronkowski to One of NFL’s Greatest QBs

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski remains tight-lipped about his NFL future and is drawing comparisons with one of the NFL’s elite players. The franchise has been seeking a quick resolution to the tight end’s status quo, and it continues to drag on every passing week. The inaction and attention Gronk receives were given a unique comparison by former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith on social media.

While replying to a tweet by Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud about Gronk, Smith states, “Gronk is the Brett Favre of our generation, and I love it!” While the comparison at first seems quite random but the delay in Gronk’s decision gives Smith’s observation some validity.

Favre was among the top QBs to ever grace the NFL and was one of the best players in his position.

The former Green Bay Packers QB, while outstanding on the field, was having troubles off it. He was always under scrutiny because of his actions away from the fields. He lived a party-going nightlife throughout his career. Favre was usually the player who tested the patience of the fans on multiple occasions. While Gronk has been far from reaching that extreme, the comparison appears to be valid.

Will the Buccaneers succeed without Rob Gronkowski on their roster?

The franchise has been looking to bring its core group of players back for another season after Tom Brady’s return. Gronk has been part of the core group with players like Leonard Fournette, Ryan Jensen, and Chris Godwin. It appears to solely depend on the player’s decision as things stand.

The new Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles recently was opening up about the possibility of Gronk’s impending return to the roster. On Friday, while speaking with reporters, Bowles states that it’s still “status quo” on Gronk’s decision.

He adds that there are no set timetables on when the 4-time Super Bowl champion will return to play.

His teammate and best friend Brady will count on Gronk to return for potentially his final NFL season. It could be a case of double departure from the team following the end of the 2022 NFL campaign. The Buccaneers fans will hope to see the Brady-Gronk dynamic duo in action one final time in the upcoming season.
