“It’s Just a Matter of Identifying”: Red Bull F1 Promises More Women Recruitment Amidst W-Series StrugglesVaibhav AatreyaEssentiallySports
Since its inception in 2019, W Series, a free-to-enter championship, has provided equal opportunities for women. However, the main criticism is that it cannot give promising young talent a further step up into the world of motorsport. Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner argues otherwise.
“I think the W Series is a great initiative. It’s still very young, the championship is evolving and growing, and I hope it will attract more and more girls to motor racing. really, it’s that more girls are interested in the basics of running.”
“I think with the Netflix effect on sport, we are seeing the demographics of Formula 1 fans change. There are a lot more young women who are aware and interested in Formula 1, which I hopefully, will encourage them to get involved.”

“Obviously karting is the entry point into motorsport. And I think there will always be this debate, whether girls should race with boys. Should we do like in other sports where there are two separate competitions?”
Christian Horner hopes that if the W Series continues to develop young talent, then they might end up racing in series such as Formula 3 or Formula 2, and then eventually Formula 1. The Red Bull boss concluded that his organization would continue to support women. Furthermore, he concluded they would like to incorporate women into the Red Bull Junior Program as well.
“As far as Red Bull’s involvement is concerned, we have sponsored girls and supported girls in the past, and we will do so again in the future. It’s just a matter of identifying, through our detection systems, the talents we want to support.”
W Series goes racing in Miami for the season opener
W series kicked off its return in style at Miami. Being the first race before Formula 1 to go racing on the inaugural circuit, there was plenty was of action.

Jamie Chadwick started her title defense to a great start by winning both the races on the weekend. She led every lap on Sunday’s race and was in supreme form. Jessica Hawkins, driver ambassador for the Aston Martin F1 team, also finished on the podium. Chloe Chambers, a rookie, finished in P10.
W Series resumes racing in Barcelona from May 20-22.
