A genius WhatsApp sleuth has revealed some of the most exciting changes coming to the app.

WhatsApp is constantly receiving updates that add new features.

Most of these changes are trialled in the “beta” first – a test version of the app for very keen users.

Tech blog WABetaInfo mines this app for the biggest changes, and publishes them online.

And a new blog post reveals that WhatsApp is working on at least eight changes to the app.

What’s coming up on WhatsApp?

WABetaInfo says WhatsApp has slightly tweaked the page for creating text status updates.

There’s a new feature in development that will let you set multiple chats to disappear at once.

Another update adds a “new introduction” for disappearing (or self-deleting) messages.

There’s a new WhatsApp app being built for macOS.

WhatsApp is creating a redesigned security page for the WhatsApp desktop.

Chat filters are coming to WhatsApp accounts.

A message reply shortcut is being added for the web and desktop clients.

And WhatsApp is also adding “rich previews” when you share a link as a status update.

Sadly it’s unclear exactly when any of these changes will go live.

It could take days, weeks or even months for WhatsApp to roll them out to the general public.

And WhatsApp might even be so put off by an idea that it gets scrapped completely.

How to join the WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp beta for your smartphone you need to go to Google Play on your Android and search for WhatsApp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Tap the “I’m In” button and then click “Join” to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.
