The F1 helmet Cam has been a revelation since the first time it was introduced on the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The new technological innovation has garnered praise from all quarters who support motorsports. It has received immense praise from former F1 drivers who compliment it for its authentic visual from the cockpit of the driver.
The new technology has inspired other motorsport series to take up the challenge as well. So MotoGP recently introduced a shoulder cam in their races. They have decided to place the camera not on the helmet but on the shoulder of the rider.
Fans took to Twitter to share their opinion on the new shoulder cam that has been hailed as a masterpiece. Some have even mentioned that it is better than the F1 helmet cam.

Helmet Cam in the 2021 season was an experiment that yielded positive reviews from everyone. So we will see the new technology more frequently in the new 2022 season.
F1 Director of broadcast happy with the response to helmet cams
F1 director of broadcast Dean Locke revealed that he was happy with the positive feedback for the helmet Cam in the 2021 season. He also mentioned that there will be more frequent use of the new technology to show the new generation of cars in the 2022 season.
“We were really happy with the results last year, and now we are going to run it in qualifying and the races. I think we’ve got to test a bit with how we use that because sometimes shorter is better for some of those shots,” said Locke.

“We thought that once we cracked the helmet cam, we can use it everywhere. We’re looking at potentially cameras on the rear light, or ones we’ve used in the past – like a mirror camera or even in the footwells,” said the F1 Director.

It is fascinating to see the helmet cam in operation in the new 2022 cars. It reveals interesting details about the cars and also reviews how harsh the ground effect in the new cars truly is.
With the help of helmet Cam, we can truly see how porpoising is truly affecting the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari on the track. Hopefully, we will continue to see this evolve throughout this season in both F1 and MotoGP.
