Netflix’s Bridgerton to stray from novels with unexpected romance in season threeMared ParryThe Sun

BRIDGERTON fans will be all too familiar with the show’s great romances.

However, it looks like things will soon switch up, with the third season of the Netflix series deciding to stray from the original storylines seen in the novels.

Nicola Coughlan plays Penelope Bridgerton

During Netflix’s FYSEE Space’s opening night ATAS panel on Sunday evening, one of the hit show’s stars revealed a very interesting fact about what’s to come.

After season two was aired, Nicola Coughlan was asked what Lady Whisledown can let the fans know what’s to expect in the next instalment.

Nicola, 35, plays Penelope Featherington in the series, a love-sick teen who is head over heels for her friend, Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton.

The actress let slip that season three will follow their characters as the friendship potentially blossoms into something bigger.

She said: “Like Lady Whistledown, I have been keeping a secret for quite some time and I can confirm to you all that season 3 is Colin and Penelope’s love story.”

She added: “I have kept that secret since two weeks into season 2. This is the first time I am saying it here.”

How exciting!

This strays from what the original storyline is in the novels, of which the series is based off of.

Season two followed Kate and Anthony’s romance
