Phil Mickelson is on a break from competitive golf ever since making a public apology for his comments on the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed golf league. Moreover, he has been in the limelight due to the LIV Golf Invitational involvement. Recently, golf legend Jack Nicklaus spoke about the same and had a piece of good advice for Mickelson.
In a piece written by Micheal Bamberger on May 16th, 2022, for the Fire Pit Collective, the renowned golf writer added crucial information about Phil Mickelson and the new LIV Golf Invitational Series. Moreover, in the piece, Bamberger talks about Phil’s release from the PGA Tour to play in the rival tour.
At the same time, he briefly mentioned his triumph at the PGA Championship last year at the Ocean Course. Not to forget, the six-time major championship winner is among the famous professionals who had asked for a release from the PGA Tour to play in the opening event of the new Tour at Centurion Club in June.

Later in the piece, Bamberger talks about the dinner that took place during the Pro-Am event at the Honda Classic earlier this year. Moreover, on the same night, Jimmy Robert, a famous NBC Reporter, and Nicklaus did a Q&A in the ballroom. A short clipping about the same broke out on Twitter, in which Nicklaus talks about Mickelson and LIV Golf, and Jack gets frank about Mickelson.
In the clip, Roberts mentions the Lefty’s interest in the Saudi-backed golf league. To which, the golf legend has a very bold reply. The golden bear says, “He should go then. He has already made known his lack of interest in the new league.” And later Nicklaus adds when Jimmy says Phil will go alone to join the LIV Golf. Jack says “He’ll have a great tour.”
Moreover, after that Micheal mentions calling Nickalus and talking about the 45-time PGA Tour winner, Mickelson. In the process, he reveals the valuable advice that Jack had for Phil. The 82-year-old said: “My advice to Phil? My advice to Phil would be to be patient. The world is a very forgiving place. But he’s the one he has to decide where he wants to play and what he wants to do.”
Moreover, Nicklaus’ words prove his love and fondness for Mickelson. At the same time, it also shows that Jack never backs down from helping and providing advice to other professionals.
