Harry Styles and James Corden team up to create Daylight music video with just $300 budget and some very lucky NYC residentsMeghna AminEntertainment – Metro
Those were some lucky residents indeed.
Harry Styles and James Corden have teamed up to make the popstar’s newest music video, Daylight, with a $300 (£230) budget and the help of some New York City residents.
The 28-year-old heartthrob starred on Thursday night’s The Late Late Show with James Corden, in a segment where the pair took to the streets of the Big Apple with a camera crew to try and create the music video.
Despite being two of the biggest stars in the world, they didn’t seem to get off to a great start, as the first two people whose doors they’d knocked on turned down the offer to let them film in their homes.
‘I thought this would be easier Harry, I’ve got to be honest – I thought your face would open a lot of doors,’ James confesses.
But eventually, after James pretended to be a pizza delivery man, the pair did manage to convince some very lucky residents to help them.
Who can blame them for the excitement when the Harry Styles just knocked on their door?
It turns out they hadn’t knocked on the door of just anyone, as, later in the segment it was revealed one of the women had a fair bit of One Direction memorabilia in her room, including lots of pictures of Harry.
‘We need to hide all of this because I’m worried you’re a psychopath,’ James tells her, shouting: ‘Harry, don’t come in here!’

Using the props and fancy dress found around the apartment, James got straight into directing Harry around – from asking him to walk sexily down a hallway, to making him wildly flick his fair in the bathtub.
At one point, Harry had clearly had enough of the talk-show host’s vision, as he was sat on the edge of the bath talking to a cameraman and asking: ‘Should we just scrap it? Is it too late to just do a carpool karaoke?’

Elsewhere, James was dressed in a green morph suit (with a box to protect too much being seen on screen) and dangling fake birds around the Watermelon Sugar singer, all in the name of special effects.
Despite James’ directions and the low budget, the video looks as sleek and professional as ever, with the help of the floating fedora, glow sticks, big red bow and even a real pizza delivery man roped in.

Daylight features as the fifth track on the Grammy winner’s most recent album Harry’s House, which was only released last week.
The new music video follows Harry sticking to the number one spot on the Official Chart for seven weeks, tying with We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Encanto for the longest-running chart-topper of the year so far.
