Warning: spoilers ahead for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

There was a lot to digest in the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the release date for the Star Wars series finally arrived on Disney Plus.

A decade after Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) succumbed to the dark side of the Force and transformed into Darth Vader, retired Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is still haunted by their fallout and what he believed to be Anakin’s death.

Now living a life of solitude while keeping a close eye on the young Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan tries to turn to his late Jedi master for guidance – Qui-Gon, who was played by Liam Neeson in the prequel film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Obi-Wan’s pleas to Qui-Gon for help has prompted fans to speculate that Liam could make a cameo on the show, reprising his role to come back as a Force Ghost.

As far as theories go – we have to say this one sounds like it could be incredibly likely.

‘THE Qui-Gon TEASE ARE U KIDDING ME, but we r 100% seeing him before the end of this series,’ one person tweeted.

‘I don’t think we get Force Ghost Qui-Gon until the final episode,’ another said.

Someone else referred to one of Liam’s most famous roles in Taken, when he embarked on a mission to track down his kidnapped daughter.

Considering Obi-Wan is on a similar quest in his eponymous show, having sought out the young Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) after she was taken from her home planet, it would be apt for Liam to be involved in the storyline.

Worth the wait… can’t wait for the next episode #ObiWanKenobi

Was anybody else just waiting for Qui Gon to appear…

‘Part I was as Star Wars as it gets. Qui-Gon Jinn cameo is on the horizon. What better person to help find a taken child than Liam Neeson?’ one person wrote.

Others also shared how heartbroken they felt hearing Obi-Wan calling for his old master when he was suffering emotional turmoil.

‘Hearing Obi-Wan call for Qui-Gon after waking up from a nightmare broke my heart in a million pieces,’ one person remarked.

While many fans are hoping Qui-Gon will show up, Liam recently spoke out about the prospect of returning to Star Wars, saying he would only do so in a film.

However, for all we know, he was just trying to trick his fans… so we’ll believe it when we see it.

If Liam were to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, it wouldn’t be the first high-profile cameo he’s made this year.

The actor recently astounded Derry Girls fans when he made an appearance in the opening episode of the final season, showing up as Chief Constable Byers while questioning the gang after they broke into school.

What do you say, Liam – how about one more cameo? For old times’ sake?

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
