‘No regrets’: Rylan Clark marks 10 years since unforgettable X Factor audition absolutely transformed his lifeCharlotte ManningEntertainment – Metro
What a ride it’s been!
Rylan Clark has marked a decade since that incredible X Factor audition saw him quickly propel to stardom, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Essex born Rylan memorably took to the stage of the singing contest back in 2012, where he performed a dance version of Des’ree’s Kissing You.
It had pretty mixed reactions, with Gary Barlow left baffled: ‘Rylan, love your personality, hate your voice, really strange song choice as well.’
But against all the odds, he made it through to the live shows and while he only finished ninth that year, he went on to win Celebrity Big Brother 11 in 2013 before he presented Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, This Morning and The Xtra Factor.
Since then, he’s been just about everywhere on the box and is even on our airwaves with his BBC Radio 2 show each Saturday.
So it’s pretty wild to think it’s already been 10 years since it all began.

Rylan himself couldn’t believe it either, as he shared the milestone with fans on social media.
‘Next to a picture of himself from his audition, with the number 10 in front, he wrote: ‘Dunno how, dunno why, but today marks 10 years since that audition.
‘Thanks for a decade to remember. No regrets x
Fans quickly praised the presenter, who recently commentated on the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.

One responded: ‘Omg!! I’m so glad you auditioned, the entertainment industry is better with you in it.’
‘Wow! Time flies when you’re having fun 💜 I’m glad you’re on my telly and radio,’ another echoed.
A fan weighed in: ‘How far you have come, a brilliant presenter love everything you do.’

‘My husband & I think you’re fab Rylan but I discovered last week he had never seen you on X Factor so I showed him (incl the crying video, obvs 😁) & it blew his mind! Congratulations – so happy for the success you’ve had from this,’ someone else shared.
Earlier this year, Rylan announced he had penned a tell-all book to mark the milestone in the industry, following the ‘toughest’ year of his life.
‘TEN: The decade that changed my future. Wow. All the emotions,’ the Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two host began. ‘This book celebrates ten years of me being in this crazy industry.

‘We all know I should have lasted ten minutes, so how I’ve lasted ten years, I’ll never know. Learned so many lessons, especially in the last year but it’s been a journey, and I can’t wait to share it with you very soon.
‘And if audiobooks are a bit of you, you can pre-order the audiobook which will be read by, yes – yours truly.’
