Dan Walker has confirmed his anticipated start date on 5 News, not long after his final show on BBC Breakfast was broadcast.
And the TV stalwart doesn’t have long to wait until his new gig kicks off, either, with the announcement he’ll be helming the Channel 5 flagship news bulletin from June 6.
Dan made the announcement today on the Jeremy Vine Show, before a clip alongside co-presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije was uploaded.
‘It’s great to be joining Channel 5, but news is never about who sits in the chair,’ Dan said in the clip, in an apparent nod to the interest about his moving from BBC to 5, before adding: ‘It’s the stories that matter most from a team you can trust.’
An easy one to remember, at least – 5 News, weeknights from 5 on Channel 5. Got it?
His arrival on the channel follows the recent announcement that he would be leaving BBC Breakfast, and as well as 5 News anchor, Dan’s role will include fronting a range of brand-new non-news programming for Channel 5.
Dan’s seat might still be warm over at BBC Breakfast, but he’s also already checking out his new digs after announcing his move to Channel 5.
Earlier this month the TV presenter bid farewell to the early morning news programme over at BBC, which he first joined in 2016.

It was an emotional last day for the 45-year-old, who was reunited with his former co-star Louise Minchin live in the studio before making a graceful exit with a huge inflatable lobster.
Not long after, he revealed he had headed over to the Channel 5 studio to take a look around his new workplace… and he seemed to like what he saw.
Sharing a black and white selfie on Twitter, he wrote: ‘I had a little look around my new TV home today. They all seem lovely at @5_News.’
In a statement from the broadcaster, it mused the arrival of Dan continued the evolution of the channel.
It said: ‘With up to 5.2 million viewers tuning in every week, 5 News plays an important part in the UK’s media landscape. 5 News provides a unique perspective on the day’s stories, delivering a greater depth of analysis to a teatime audience from around the UK.’
