John Bishop and Damian Lewis formed a tight bromance after finding themselves stranded on a plane for six hours following the Champions League final.

The respective comedian and Homeland actor were among the celebrities who jetted over to Paris last weekend to watch the football match between Liverpool and Real Madrid on Saturday.

With Liverpool suffering a crushing defeat to the Spanish team and missing out on the trophy, John and Damian were no doubt hoping to make a swift exit from the Stade de France.

However, they struggled to find seats on another plane and so wound up on the same chartered flight.

John shared photos of him and Damian smiling while seated beside each other on the plane, and wrote: ‘I managed to get a seat on a club charter flight from Paris. This felt like a win when I got on with @lewis_damian.

‘More than 5 hours later and we have not moved I wish I had got the train #crapweekend.’

Tweeting his own selfie of the two of them hanging out, Damian interjected: ‘Make that 6 hours me and ⁦@JohnBishop100⁩ day 2 in the Big Brother House.’

John then quipped: ‘You can see the cracks in our relationship developing ….,’ referring to the silly faces he and Damian were making in the photos.

‘S’alright ⁦@JohnBishop100⁩ and me have had an idea…,’ Damian captioned a photo of them in the cockpit.

John then joked: ‘He made me do it your honour ….’

The Champions League final has been mired in controversy due to chaos at the Stade de France gates, including Liverpool fans allegedly being blocked from entering, and young fans being crushed in the crowds. The French police have also been criticised over its handling of the situation while UEFA have been blamed for poor communication.

Reacting to the situation, John later tweeted: ‘Glad the authorities are looking into the shambolic handling of the CL final. It is the worst policing I have experienced. I saw tear gas being used for no reason and ppl forced towards gates whilst turnstiles remained closed.Chaos afterwards too. Both sets of fans behaved well.’

He added: ‘Just watched the French press conference trying to blame LFC supporters. Madrid fans were in the ground earlier because they were allowed in . Suggesting 70% of tickets were fraud is just made up. Bad organisation. Bad policing backed up with bad lies.’
