There’s no denying that for TV fans, there’s been a lot to love recently.

From Ozark to Better Call Saul and Selling Sunset and newbies such as Night Sky and The Time Traveller’s Wife, we’ve been rather spoilt for choice.

Your next viewing obsession might just become Danny Boyle’s upcoming drama all about the rise of the Sex Pistols – Pistol.

The six-part TV series has just been released on Disney Plus, providing a fascinating history lesson for music fans as it charts the iconic band’s tumultuous journey to punk stardom.

We get a glimpse into the lives of a young Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious and the rest of the bandmembers.

The cast is excellent, with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and The Queen’s Gambit’s Thomas Brodie-Sangster both landing parts.

Here’s everything we know about the series;

What is the Pistol TV series about?

Production for the limited series hit a few bumps along the way (Picture: DISNEY+/FX Networks)

The six-episode series, based on guitarist Steve Jones’ harrowing and hilarious 2017 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol, tells the story of the founding member of the Sex Pistols’ journey to becoming punk legends and that of his bandmates.

It’s helmed by director Danny Boyle, who has a fair few hit movies under his belt, to put it mildly, from directing gritty cult classic Trainspotting in 1996, as well as the Oscar-winning direct Slumdog Millionaire, and fan-favourite, 28 Days Later.

The series has been created and written by Craig Pearce, a frequent collaborator of Baz Luhrmann who is best known for Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby.

Production for the TV show hit a few bumps, namely the band’s singer John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, calling the series, ‘the most disrespectful s**t’ and filing a lawsuit to stop Sex Pistols music from being used in the series, which he subsequently lost.

The series also marks Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams’ most prominent small screen outing since the HBO show came to a divisive end in 2019.

The 25-year-old will play Pamela Rooke aka Jordan Mooney, who worked with Westwood and the Sex boutique in the mid-70s.

Is there a trailer?

In the trailer, you can see the band trying to disrupt the norm in Britian, because ‘people’s minds are too imprisoned.
