The Platinum Jubilee celebrations truly kick off from today, and there’s no better way to keep up than on TV.

We’re being treated to a whole host of royal programmes over the long weekend, from live concerts to a winning Jubilee pudding.

And the highlight will be the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday, where we can expect a whole host of national treasures to join.

Here’s what to tune into.

THURSDAY JUNE 2

Trooping The Colour

BBC1, 10am

The Bank Holiday weekend started with a bang (Picture: PA)

A long weekend for Queen Elizabeth II opens on a familiar note as she’s joined by her nearest and dearest for her traditional birthday celebration at Horse Guards Parade.

Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex’s movements have not secured a spot on the balcony for the Red Arrows.

Neither has Andrew.

The One Show

BBC1, 6.30pm

Time for tea with Mary Berry (Picture: PA)

If you’ve been struggling to whip up the specially created platinum pudding in time for your street party, here’s a last chance to get it right as dessert maestro Jemma Melvin is joined by queen of cakes Mary Berry to show just how it’s done.

EastEnders

BBC1, 7.30pm

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are scheduled to join the Queen Vic’s Platinum bash thrown by publican Mick Carter (King Danny Dyer).

Does one know Knees Up Mother Brown?

Platinum Beacons: Lighting Up The Jubilee

BBC1, 8pm

If you’ve got room in your garden or just a window box you can join in with this one as beacons up and down the land are lit in special ceremonies. Imagine a homespun take on an Olympics opening, interspersed with lots of chat — there are two hours to fill.

FRIDAY

The Crown Jewels

BBC1, 7.30pm

Hopefully he won’t drop anything (Picture: BBC/The Royal Collection Trust/Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II)

Clive Myrie feels the weight of history as he investigates the tangled history of Britain’s collection of crowns, tiaras and other glittery trinkets, many linked to days of Empire.

SATURDAY

The Epsom Derby

ITV, 12.40pm

Forget your pageants and parties, the royal family enjoy an annual pilgrimage to Epsom for the famed flat race most. The Princess Royal represents this year.

The National Lottery’s Big Street Party

ITV, 5pm

Steps will be performing for the people of Manchester at a special street party (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage)

Not really a street party, more a concert on a specially faked-up street in Manchester.

Here we have Steps, Ella Henderson, Kaiser Chiefs, Tom Grennan and more pretending they’re not miffed they didn’t get the Platinum Party invite.

Platinum Party At The Palace

BBC1, 7.30pm

What will her Majesty make of Sam Ryder? (Picture: Marco Botorello/AFP via Getty Images)

Does our Queen watch the Eurovision Song Contest? If not, she might be flummoxed by the appearance of Space Man Sam Ryder, a late but welcome addition to this musical line-up courtesy of his storming performance in Turin.

Sam will be on a bill that includes Queen (makes sense), Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Hans Zimmer and Diana Ross.

SUNDAY

The Platinum Pageant

BBC1, 1pm

Circus acts, street dancers and kids creating a ‘River of Hope’… all of this and more is promised in a pageant aimed at reflecting how times have changed during the past 70 years.

A diverse selection of celebs dubbed ‘national treasures’ by the organisers — you don’t often see Basil Brush, Gary Lineker and Heston Blumenthal in the same sentence — will pop up here. Plus, Ed Sheeran.
