Social media star Abby, who runs the popular TikTok account @sisterguidetostyle, shared a video titled: “Outdated fashion rules you don’t need to follow.”
She then went through the top three trends that people tend to think of, including how your bag and shoes no longer need to match.
Starting off the video, @sisterguidetostyle said it’s not it doesn’t always need to be that rigid when it comes to your accessories.
Instead, the fashionista, who is in the video wearing a simple jeans and vest combo alongside neutral, plain accessories, explained: “Well, sometimes this is true – it depends on the outfit.”

She went on to show the exact same outfit, but with a patterned bag. She said: “If I simply swap out my purse in this example, I add more interest to the look.”
Secondly, the fashion fan debunks the fashion myth that black, brown and navy don’t match.
She revealed: “I have to toss this rule out of the window. In my opinion, some of the classiest looks have these combinations.”
She then put her money where her mouth is by putting on a fitted navy dress, black blazer and clashing brown accessories.

Lastly, @sisterguidetostyle maintains that the fashion rule book also has to be ripped up when it comes to the idea that dresses and trainers can’t be worn together.
The social media star said that the complete opposite is true, as it can create a classic daytime look.

She revealed: “A low profile sneaker is the easiest way to make a dress more casual and comfortable.”
And it looks like her followers agree and are ready to follow the new fashion rules she’s put forward, as the video has already racked up lots of likes.
