The Boys – and the Seven – are back, and we can’t wait for the newest season to drop in a matter of hours.
The highly popular Amazon Prime series – created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Eric Kripke – is essentially the antithesis of the traditional superhero tales and tells the dark story of supervillain Homelander (Antony Starr) leading The Seven, who are actually using their incredible superpowers for selfish gains.
With some impressive PR skills, The Seven blindside the rest of the US, much like the very real idolisation of celebrity culture, and the squad of ‘supers’ manage to literally get away with murder.
As the episodes get darker and darker, the story follows Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), who is seeking revenge on the super-speedy Seven member A-train (Jessie Usher), after he ploughs down Hughie’s girlfriend.
In his quest, Hughie’s world turns upside down when he befriends the vigilante group, The Boys, led by chief rebel Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who has promised that the new series will be a ‘next level diabolical’ return.

The Emmy-nominated show will return to Amazon Prime and release the first three episodes of the highly-anticipated season on Friday, 3rd June.
In the UK, the episodes will be available from midnight GMT on Friday.
New episodes will then be available each Friday following, leading up to the epic season finale on Friday, July 8.

Karl and Jack will of course return as Billy and Hughie, joined by the rest of their squad: Kimiko (played by Karen Fukuhara), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty).

Fighting against them, Homelander leads the world’s premier team of superheroes: A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).
Among the cast’s newcomers is Supernatural star Jensen Ackles in the role of Soldier Boy. The Walking Dead veteran Laurie Holden will play Crimson Countess, a member of Payback.
Three supes have also been added to season three as recurring parts, with Sean Patrick Flanery playing Gunpowder, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Starlight’s ex-boyfriend; and Nick Wechsler will play Blue Hawk.
Claudia Doumit, who appeared as Congresswoman Victoria Neuman in season two will have an expanded role in season three. Claudia and Colby Minifie, who plays Ashley Barrett, have been upped to series regulars. Cameron Crovetti, who plays Ryan, Homelander’s super-powered son, will also return.

The trailer has left us desperate for more, and as the last two seasons have stepped up the game, we can only expect this season to be darker and funnier.
Nathan, who plays Black Noir, hinted that the stakes are only going to get higher, when he spoke exclusively to Metro.co.uk: ‘I think the nice thing about the show is there’s an upping of the stakes, like the stakes from season one [are] upped in season two and so I think in that same way, we’re gonna raise the stakes again.’
