Piers Morgan has claimed his royal sources told him Thursday’s Trooping of the Colour was tense behind the scenes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle flew to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Queen is currently marking 70 years of sitting on the throne, with a number of huge events being put on across the capital and beyond taking place over the weekend.
Things kicked off in style with the Trooping Of The Colour, where the rest of the royal family joined the monarch on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
This included the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with the pair back in the country together for the first time this year, much to the delight of fans of the couple.
However, while they kept a low profile, watching from behind the scenes, Piers told TalkTV viewers there were ‘tensions’ behind the scenes of the occasion.
He explained it was ‘frosty’ and told viewers: ‘The rest of the family went into the garden and were milling around and they [Meghan and Harry] just disappeared.
‘So there is already a lot of tension there and the only glue it seems in this whole tension is The Queen and she’s not going to be there [tomorrow].’

It comes as he’d already made a dig at Meghan, who he has publicly shared his dislike of on many occasions, while sharing a photo of Prince Louis.
The young prince was hilariously photographed at the ceremony with his hands over his ears and pulling faces during the fly past, and looked seriously unimpressed.
Piers couldn’t resist a swipe at the American royal, attaching snaps of Louis with the caption: ‘Is this when Aunty Meghan arrived?’
But the former Good Morning Britain host soon received backlash for the comment.
One replied: ‘Five years later and you’re still obsessed.’

‘Meghan is nice, why do you hate her?’ someone else asked.
Another unimpressed Twitter user said: ‘Of all the things that could have been posted on a day of celebration and people coming together, you choose this. Why the need for such nastiness?!’
Elsewhere, the broadcaster finished off his show by offering up a tribute to Her Majesty, telling viewers he’d ‘never forget’ the day of celebrations.
‘What a day, my entire life I’ve only ever had one Queen. Elizabeth II has been the head of this country for every second I’ve been alive, in fact, a lot more seconds.

‘There are not many people on the planet who haven’t lived the majority of their lives with her as the monarch in this country. She means something of course to everyone and to see her today after all the concerns about her health, her mobility, her brush with Covid.’
He concluded: ‘To see her marching out with the big grin, the Tom Cruise Maverick sunglasses on, to greet her adoring public is a sight I’ll never forget.’
Piers Morgan: Uncensored airs weekdays from 8pm on TalkTV.
