Eurovision star Sam Ryder has received lavish praise for his stunning performance at the Jubilee concert, with many comparing him to the legendary Freddie Mercury.

The musician became a legend overnight as he clinched the UK’s best Eurovision performance in years with his track Space Man, topping the leaderboard with the jury votes.

While he fell at the final hurdle to the Kalush Orchestra, with the public throwing their support behind Ukraine, Sam was treated to a hero’s welcome upon his return to the UK with many considering him to be their winner.

Now Sam has proven yet again that he is a monster on the stage, as he gave an incredible performance of his Eurovision track at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert.

Airing on BBC One, Sam’s performance blew audiences away, with fans taking to social media to share their thoughts – and many stating he put on a show the late Queen frontman would have been proud of.

‘Sam Ryder is putting some of these big acts to shame,’ one person wrote. ‘He’s got some voice on him and a natural performer to boot. Getting Freddie Mercury vibes there.’

The three-hour extravaganza has seen performances from Sam along with other major names including Rod Stewart and George Ezra.

Some of the West End’s most iconic musicals also put on a show, with performances from the cast of Hamilton, Six, and The Lion King.

There have been opera renditions, raps, commentary and comedy, as 22,000 people cram into the grounds of Buckingham Palace and the Mall to celebrate 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II took the throne.
