When did Brian May perform on the roof of Buckingham Palace?-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

All eyes are on Buckingham Palace this weekend, in celebration of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

One highlight is the Platinum Jubilee concert, which boasts an incredible line-up starring icons Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Sir Rod Stewart and more.

Queen will be leading the way, joining Andrea Bocelli with a pre-recorded performance from Sir Elton John at Buckingham Palace on Saturday June 4 for the big celebration, alongside non-musical guests including  Sir David Attenborough and Stephen Fry.

Guitarist Brian, who previously teased the news of the band’s involvement, said: ’20 years after playing the Queen’s glorious Golden Jubilee we’re very happy to be invited again.

‘Then there was a moment when I wondered… after Buckingham Palace roof where can you go? Well… you will see!’

Could it be a repeat of the iconic moment Brian took to the Buckingham Palace roof for a legendary performance?

When was Brian May’s legendary performance on the Buckingham Palace roof?

Brian, who founded the band alongside Freddie Mercury, performed a guitar solo of the national anthem on top of Buckingham Palace for Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee 20 years ago in 2002.

Last month, the 74-year-old admitted that it would be tough to top that legendary moment, saying: ‘Of course, it’s hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible.’

Queen and Adam Lambert will open the festival, which will see 22,000 people attend, including 10,000 tickets to be released to the general public (while thousands of key workers will also be invited).
