Roman Kemp was a little flustered meeting the Duchess of Cambridge at last night’s Platinum Party at the Palace after party and told the royal she looked ‘fit’.
The Capital Breakfast host co-anchored the musical extravaganza at Buckingham Palace in London on Saturday, which kicked off with Queen Elizabeth II having tea with Paddington.
The star-studded event also saw performances from the likes of Diana Ross and Eurovision’s Sam Ryder, who was dubbed ‘the new Freddie Mercury’ for his show.
The night attracted a mega viewership too, with an impressive 13.4million viewers tuning in to enjoy the festivities.
Joining Kirsty Young for the Platinum Pageant on Sunday, Roman revealed his antics from the previous night, which included meeting the Duchess of Cambridge.
‘I’m terrible at royal protocol when you meet a royal and what you have to say,’ Roman began. ‘I make mistakes all the time.’

‘Yesterday, Princess Kate was there,’ he continued, with Kirsty swiftly stepping in to correct her title.
‘She looked amazing,’ Roman said. ‘I saw her and she said, “you look great” and I said to her “wow, yeah you look really fit”.’
‘No not like that!’ he stressed. ‘Then I went, “you look amazing”.’
Roman admitted that he was nervous by the encounter but added that the Duchess laughed at his compliment.

The special jubilee event, which was held outside Buckingham Palace, also featured performances from Duran Duran, Craig David, Alicia Keys and Sir Rod Stewart among others.
