Love Island 2022 has officially kicked off for the 2022 series, with stars including Gemma Owen, Paige Thorne, Luca Bish and Davide Sanclimenti entering the brand new villa for a summer of sizzling romance.
One of the new islanders includes recent graduate Liam Llewellyn, who was partnered up with Gemma, the daughter of former footballer Michael Owen, straight away after a public vote.
In his VT, Liam – who has a masters in strength and conditioning – made several intriguing revelations… including how mind-boggled he is that raisins are simply dried grapes.
He then made an admission that left many viewers scratching their heads – that he thought Elton John was actually two people for 20 of his 22 years.
‘I thought Elton John was two blokes for 20 years. I just thought it was like “Elt and John”, just like it’s Ant and Dec,’ he told the camera, giggling at his own mistake.
Wonder when the penny dropped?

One viewer was left bereft over Liam’s gaffe, tweeting: ‘A lad on Love Island thought Elton John was a duo “ Elt & John”. There is no hope.’
‘Liam has done his masters but thought Elton John was two people…something’s not clicking,’ someone else remarked.
However, others found the moment utterly entertaining, as one person penned: ‘“I thought Elton John was two blokes for 20 years. Elt and John.” Liam. Episode 1 of Love Island and we’ve struck gold already.’
‘”I thought Elton John was two people” I already ADORE Liam,’ another commented.
Meanwhile, someone else shared that they’ve made a similar mistake in the past, admitting that they thought Vernon Kay was two people when they first moved to the UK.
At the start of last night’s launch programme, Liam was partnered up with Gemma Owen, the daughter of former professional footballer Michael Owen, after a public vote.
While talk quickly turned to football, Gemma managed to avoid mentioning the identity of her famous dad.

Gemma asked Liam if he played football at ‘a decent level’, prompting Liam to question if she’d dated a footballer in the past.
‘I feel like you’ve been with an ex-footballer or something,’ Liam said, dropping his line of questioning after Gemma said she was asking because she was ‘interested’.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
