The latest Minecraft update is adding a new type of area and new enemies when it launches today.
Launching today, June 7, Minecraft will be getting its 1.19 update entitled ‘The Wild’. Featuring a new enemy called the Warden, it will add jungles and a little more horror into the game.
Minecraft developer Mojang is bringing a few quality of life changes too, like boats that have chests so you can explore without giving up storage and adding mangrove swamp areas to the game, which of course means a new set of mangrove swamp themed blocks to use.
Mojang usually updates the game around 3pm BST – or at least they have in the past – leading fans to speculate that the update will actually drop this afternoon. Of course, if you’re on PC, the ‘snapshot’ feature has had an unfinished version in the launcher for the last few weeks.
Minecraft The Wild Update: new biome and mobs
Outside of the brand new enemy The Warden, Minecraft is adding a hefty amount of new features to the 1.19 update. These include:
Mangrove Swamp biomeThe biggest addition is an entirely new biome which will spawn all the new mobs like frogs and tadpoles. This biome will also be where you find the new blocks listed below.
Frog and tadpole mobsThese will begin to spawn in swamps and the new variant, mangrove swamps.
Warden mobThe big bad of this particular update, The Warden requires you to be sneaky to avoid its attacks that can land massive damage.

FroglightsIf you manage to get a frog to eat a magma cube, you’ll be treated to it giving you a frog light.
Boats with chestsKeep exploring the vast oceans and murky swamps with a handy chest to store what you find.
Swift Sneak enchantmentTo fight against the Warden, you’ll need to be quiet and stealthy. So what better way to do this than enchant yourself to be a bit quicker.
Sculk Catalyst blockWhen an enemy dies near these blocks, it changes the rest of the blocks around it into ‘sculk’. Breaking open a sculk catalyst will drop the experience points it has harvested from the dead enemies.
