Yes, it is a weird world we live in (pic: CodeMiko)

While making changes to her character model, the streamer was ‘nude’ with a mosiac over her before Twitch banned her.

CodeMiko is a ‘virtual streamer’, commonly known as a ‘vtuber’. These streamers opt to use an avatar rather than appear as themselves, to remain anonymous and separate their real life from the online one.

Miko’s set-up is a little more complex than, say, Hololive, which uses a 2D model that is mapped to the streamer’s face. Miko, however, uses a full motion capture suit and the Unreal Engine to blur the lines of reality.

During the stream Miko decided to strip her character nude, making changes to the avatar as she went. However, even with the mosaic over her virtual genitals and breasts, it did not stop Twitch from banning her a fourth time.

The stream was for the most part, relatively normal despite the completely nude 3D model sitting in the room. She even named it ‘Getting banned today’.

CodeMiko is now on her fourth ban and if her Twitter is anything to go by, she’s unsure if it is permanent or not.

Perma???

Whether she’s unbanned will be up to Twitch, as recently the streaming platform has come under (light) fire over its happy-go-lucky ban hammer and then not revealing the reasons.

The hardware Miko uses is absurdly expensive, with the full capture suit costing thousands of dollars. While other virtual streamers will never show their real faces, Miko is more than happy to do real life streams where she shows off thetechnology powering her avatar.

In a deal with Sony, her advert for their equivalent to the AirPod features both herself in the motion capture suit and her avatar.

However, Miko might only be gone a month according to her housemate, another popular streamer called Justaminx.

The fear of a permanent ban isn’t something that most Twitch streamers appear to worry about, as big names like Dr. Disrespect and Destiny have made up for it by switching to YouTube, while Adin Ross has now made his return after being banned for alleged homophobic slurs.
