WWE superstar Cody Rhodes has undergone successful surgery after suffering a torn pectoral tendon.

The American Nightmare was in bad shape heading into last weekend’s Hell In A Cell match with Seth Freakin’ Rollins after suffering a nasty injury, but he still performed for the fans and wrestled in a very physical clash.

On Monday Night Raw earlier this week, Cody hinted he could appear at Money In The Bank on July 2 after undergoing surgery only to suffer another beatdown at the hands of The Visionary.

Now, Rhodes’ wife Brandi has given fans an update after his procedure on Thursday.

She tweeted: ‘The doctor just repaired Cody’s pectoral tendon which was torn completely off the bone. Successful surgery. He is on the road to recovery now.’

It’s thought the former Intercontinental Champion could face up to six months out of action due to the nature of the injury.

Rhodes previously addressed fans at Chicago’s Allstate Arena off-air after Sunday’s Hell In A Cell show and insisted he alone decided the match would go ahead.

‘I’m sure I’m gonna explain things a little further tomorrow, I’ll be very brief. No one convinced me, with a torn pec, to come out here. It was solely my decision,’ he said.

‘You would have to literally kill me from staying away from this ring. Ten times out of ten, I would have made the same decision.’
