Top Gear host Freddie Flintoff will be seen putting the legendary Sinclair C5 through its paces for a very adventurous bobsleigh ride in tonight’s episode…

The motoring series returned for a new set of episodes last week, with Chris Harris, Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness all back at the helm.

The trio are known for always trying to one-up each other in some mad challenges which most viewers

However, the latest instalment will see Freddie take on one of the scariest yet, as he zips around a Norwegian luge track in the Sinclair C5.

Launched in the 1980s, it was an all-electric, eco-friendly, low-speed personal mobility vehicle, designed by one of Britain’s greatest inventors, Sir Clive Sinclair.

Of course, it wasn’t intended to be used around the track of a luge, but this is Top Gear, after all.

In an exclusive clip shared with Metro.co.uk ahead of tonight’s instalment, Freddie is put through his places in his latest wild stunt.

Freddie can be seen getting ready for his descent around the track and sharing his concerns over the terrifying course.

He said: ‘Sitting at the top, it’s a different course. That first drop… wow.

‘I can just see probably 20 yards of track and then a roof, I don’t even see the track!’

As he’s pushed off to start his journey, he exclaimed: ‘Here we go, look at this. Blooming heck, it just disappears! And we’re off. I’m on my own here.’

Chris was watching all the madness via a video link and gave some insight into just how dangerous the stunt was.

He told viewers: ‘He looks exposed, his head’s above. It’s like watching an old Formula 1 car when the canopy is so low and their torso is above.’

As Freddie continues to up his speed, he shouts: ‘It’s all over the place here,’ before Chris chimed in: ‘He whacked a wall there!’

Fans of the programme will have to tune in tonight to see if Freddie manages to complete the course in one piece.

Elsewhere in this week’s show, the trio will get in the driver’s seat of some of their old TV cop car favourites.

They decide to ‘inspire’ today’s drama producers by picking a brand-new, high-performance hero car for a proper screen test, to prove just what today’s TV cop shows are missing.

Even more terrifyingly, this means unleashing the presenters’ telly cop alter-egos. Get ready to meet Dave Tall, the Preston Ranger and the Dirty Cobra…

Top Gear airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
