Fans and fellow voice actors have paid tribute to Billy Kametz, who died over the weekend.

Over the weekend, it was confirmed that voice actor Billy Kametz has died of colon cancer at the age of 35.

While he mostly worked on anime such as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable and The Rising Of The Shield Hero, he lent his voice to multiple video games as well.

Persona 5 Royal players will recognise him as school counsellor Takuto Maruki, while Fire Emblem fans know him as Ferdinand from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a role he reprised for the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

Born on March 22, 1987, in Pennsylvania, Kametz got his start as an actor on the Disney crusie line. He was later offered the role of Aladdin in Disneyland’s Musical Spectacular, after he moved to California.

In late April of this year, he uploaded a video to explain that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and would be taking a hiatus from voice acting.

News of his death was first shared by the Point of Contact agency, which also provided a link to his obituary.

‘Billy was so appreciative and blown away by the very large outpouring of support and love he received during his battle with colon cancer,’ it reads.

‘He wanted everyone to know how much it was appreciated and thanks everyone, especially his fans who he loved so much.’

A GoFundMe page was set up in April for fans to support Kametz but, with his passing, it will close on Tuesday, June 14. Any donations not already spent on Kametz’s treatments will go towards his funeral.

It has been asked that if fans wish to honour his memory, that they give money to the Colon Cancer Coalition.

There’s nothing I can say except I’m livid. I’m livid that someone so caring and creative was taken from us, livid that it happened so quickly and without warning. Livid that we have to try in vain to accept it.

RIP Billy Kametz. May we all strive to be as impactful as you were.

My heart breaks to learn of the passing of Billy Kametz. I didn’t know him well, but I was lucky enough to meet him at a premiere in LA last year. Immediately I knew I was in the presence of truly authentic, compassionate person. He will be sorely missed. 💔🕯

We lost one of our own. I remember the moment I met Billy. He radiated joy, warmth & talent. TRULY one of the nicest people in VO. What a kind, talented soul taken too soon. I’m heartbroken for his family and Erica. Be kind to each other, folks. For him. Billy Kametz 1987-2022 💔

I can’t find the words to express my sadness about the death of Billy Kametz, talented voice actor and vibrant, compassionate, effervescent and kind-hearted person. I loved working with him and am devastated he’s left us.
