Molly-Mae Hague has opened up on the impact her ‘excruciating’ battle with endometriosis has previously had on her sex life with boyfriend Tommy Fury.
The couple, both 23, got together during the 2019 season of Love Island, where they finished as runners-up to Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.
Influencer and PrettyLittleThing creative director Molly-Mae has previously been frank about her struggle with the condition, which affects approximately 10% of the world’s female population and causes the uterus lining to grow in other places in the body, including the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
In severe cases, painful ovarian cysts and adhesions – ‘sticky’ areas of endometriosis tissue that can join organs together – can develop.
Now, in her new book Becoming Molly-Mae, which was published on Thursday, the star revealed that the start of her relationship with Tommy helped identify further health issues she had relating to endometriosis.
‘Before I was with Tommy, I wasn’t really having sex, so I didn’t really think there were any problems other than my period pains,’ she wrote.

She then added, as reported by MailOnline: ‘I was suffering horrendous pain – literally feeling like I’d been stabbed in the stomach – just awful. And it was causing me so many issues.’
‘Big TMI!’ Molly-Mae then joked, before sharing: ‘But my sex life just became non-existent: it was just not part of our relationship.’
Her book shot to the top of the Amazon bestseller list shortly after its release, and 250 fans came to a sell-out event at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, where its author was signing copies.
In March, Molly-Mae uploaded a Q&A about endometriosis to her YouTube channel where she detailed her fears that she might ‘die’ from the unbearable pain.
Having undergone surgery for the condition last year and shown off her scars from the procedure, the entrepreneur said that her symptoms were so painful she felt like she’d ‘been hit by a car’.
‘Mine have definitely worsened over the years, I cannot explain the levels of pain I have experienced.
‘I have actually nearly called myself an ambulance on multiple occasions because of the level of pain that I was in,’ she said.
The reality TV star also shared that she found the pain ‘so bad’ she ‘feared for her life’ and thought she ‘wouldn’t wake up’ in the morning.

In the same video she also referred to the fact that sex remained ‘painful’, despite having had intervention to try and alleviate some of the symptoms.
Elsewhere, Molly-Mae and Tommy have also recently opened up about wanting children, with Tommy voicing his enthusiasm for a large family.

He revealed: ‘I want four kids but it’s Molly’s body and she’s the one who has to go through it – but I’ll be there with her every step of the way.
‘I’m a big family man and come from a big family too and it’s something we talk about a lot. I don’t think it’s in the far too distant future…’, he told The Sun.
