Hololive, the virtual YouTube agency, has finally shown more of their new game HoloEarth in a stream at the weekend.

Cover Corp., the company behind virtual YouTuber group and agency Hololive and Holostars has finally shown off some of the gameplay of HoloEarth.

While the stream was entirely in Japanese, it featured small snippets of the game being played, including what appeared to be a Minecraft or Valheim clone. Not much else was shown off outside of combat, looting, and building.

It is assumed that the stars from Hololive’s productions will fill out your world as non-playable characters that you can interact with. If you’ve played Dragon Quest Builders, filling out a village you’ve built with computer-controlled characters works in a similar way.

The stream featured Fubuki Shirakami, Shishiro Botan, Omaru Polka and their manager, A-Chan.

HoloEarth comes under Cover’s plans to expand into the metaverse and other media, all under the banner of Hololive Alternative.

What is Hololive Alternative?

Hololive’s metaverse efforts will include the sandbox game shown off, as well as a chat lobby that links into the full game. This would operate like your usual multiplayer lobby to let you join with others. You will also be able to create an avatar to use in-game.

There’s no release date and this is the first time the game has been shown off since its announcement last year.

Outside of the metaverse projects with HoloEarth, the company has been creating the Hololive Alternative brand for media that fits more in line with the original lore behind each of their characters.

As the talent behind the characters develop their style, a lot of the original intentions of the characters tend to fall to the wayside.

For example, the rather awkward and cold grim reaper Mori Calliope has gone on to hold full music concerts and Inugami Korone has developed her character from a cute gaming dog-girl to being featured in indie horror gaming titles.

Alongside the HoloEarth gameplay demo, Hololive also released the second Alternative anime promo video.
