Hugh Jackman has revealed he has Covid again, just one day after he performed at the Tony Awards.

The actor, 53, took to Twitter to share the news with fans via video, adding that his standby Max Clayton will take his place in the Broadway production of The Music Man, explaining: ‘I’ve frustratingly tested positive for Covid. Again.

‘My standby, the amazingly talented Max Clayton will step in for me. Maxi and all the standbys, swings and understudies around the world, you are the true heroes of theatre. You give life to the saying “the show must go on”.’

He explained in the clip: ‘I wanted you guys to hear it from me first that, unfortunately this morning I have frustratingly tested positive for Covid again.

‘So, my incredible stand-by, Max Clayton, is going to go on for me,’ he said of his understudy in The Music Man.

‘Max and I have been working together on this show for over two years and on this part, and I can tell you, from being in the room with him and from experience, he is absolutely extraordinary.

‘So I’m just frustrated that I won’t get to see him and cheer him on, but I will be cheering you on in my heart, Max.

‘To everyone, my whole cast of The Music Man, I hate not being there with you, but I’ll be back as soon as I can.’

The news comes just one day after Hugh performed at the Tony Awards and is the second time he has contracted the virus.
