K-pop icon Jungkook has revealed he has deleted multiple songs without releasing them as they weren’t good enough.

The BTS star, who also has a stellar solo career, spoke about his attitude to writing songs in a new interview.

With the recent news that the international group are going on hiatus, (though this was later clarified by their management), BTS fans still have solo work to look forward to – if Jungkook doesn’t keep deleting them, that is.

The 24-year-old has just released new single My You, but it took a lot of scrapped songs to reach this point, as he has now revealed.

Jungkook spoke to Weverse Magazine where he admitted there are ‘so many songs I’ve written that I haven’t been able to release.’

He explained that after writing and recording a song, he will put it away for a while before listening to it again – when he realises the songs don’t ‘sound good.’

‘After making the effort to write them, I should have realized I should just edit them as much as I can and release them,’ he admitted.

‘But when I heard them again after a while, they didn’t sound good, so I just deleted them all.’

He added that his fellow BTS bandmates – who each have solo careers – advise him to ‘keep making releases’ to ‘figure it all out.’

Jungkook insisted he wants his music to be ‘really unique’, such as writing songs with lyrics that ‘don’t have any meaning,’ or where ‘the word “yeah” is repeated for a whole verse.’

However, he admitted, ‘it’s hard.’

BTS stars Jin, 29, Suga, 29, J-Hope, 28, RM, 27, V, 26, Jimin, 26, and Jungkook seemingly broke the news of their hiatus to their armies of fans during their annual FESTA dinner which celebrated the hugely popular band’s nine years together.

‘We promise we will return someday,’ the band vowed at the time, breaking hearts all over the world.

However in a confusing – but hopeful – twist, while the word ‘hiatus’ was used in the English translation, the group’s management has insisted this is not the case.

A statement from Hybe said they’ll still be working on projects as a group, as well as individually, sharing, via AP: ‘BTS are not taking a hiatus.

‘Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time.’

BTS recently released their new compilation album Proof, which features 48 tracks, including some of their biggest hits.
