Lorraine Kelly has insisted Boris Johnson is welcome to appear on her chat show ‘whenever he likes’ after the Prime Minister let slip he had no idea who she was.
Kelly is the epitome of a TV legend. She’s quite literally been the most comforting voice on screens for over four decades and cemented herself as a national treasure with her popular daily talk show, which has now ran for more than a decade.
Unless you’re talking to Mr Johnson who asked Susanna Reid ‘who’s Lorraine?’ after she grilled the PM during a particularly painful interview and references her ITV co-star.
Kelly, 62, however, insisted they’ve met ‘a couple of times’.
‘Clearly I didn’t make much of an impression,’ she told the Daily Mirror.
‘But, absolutely, he can come on my show whenever he likes. We have asked him. But he hasn’t taken up our invitation so far.

‘He’s probably the first prime minister I’ve not interviewed. David Cameron came on a few times and Theresa May, and the leaders of the opposition have many times.
‘It’s strange. It seems slightly odd. But he hid in a fridge when Piers (Morgan) tried to talk to him. So maybe he doesn’t want to.’
Mr Johnson’s interview on Good Morning Britain was a long time coming – his first interview on the ITV programme as a Prime Minister and first appearance at all since 2017.

He did, however, briefly pop up on the programme when he got cornered by a GMB reporter but chose to hide in a fridge rather than speak to them.
After the ‘Who’s Lorraine?’ remark, the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson was quoted by The Guardian as saying that ‘as was clear, the Prime Minister was not fully across the ITV daytime line-up this morning’ and also added ‘you’ll appreciate he has a number of issues to deal with on his desk’.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
