Bruce Willis was described as the ‘coolest cat in town’ as his daughter, Rumer, paid tribute on Father’s Day.
The Die Hard actor, 67, has kept a low profile of late after he was diagnosed with aphasia – a disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension.
His family, including daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah – who he shares with former partner Demi Moore – and his younger children Mabel and Evelyn, from his marriage to current wife Emma Heming, signed a statement confirming the news in March.
And his nearest and dearest showered him with love over the weekend, to mark the poignant day.
Taking to Instagram, 33-year-old Rumer posted a string of throwback snaps with her dad.
‘Daddio. What a privilege it is every day to be your daughter. I love you so much,’ she captioned the upload.
‘You are the coolest cat in town.’
Daughter Scout posted a meme of the actor in The Sixth Sense in tribute, as well as a picture as she licked her dad’s head.
While wife Emma posted an adorable snapshot of the family hugging their dad on the floor.
What is aphasia?
Aphasia is a condition that impacts a person’s language skills.
This means it can cause trouble with:
reading
writing
listening
speaking
According to the NHS, it usually starts due to damage to the left side of the brain after something like, for example, a serious head injury or a stroke.
Perhaps most noticeably, people who have aphasia might have problems speaking, such as by possibly mistakenly using certain words, using the wrong sounds, or using words in the wrong order.
It does not impact a person’s intelligence, but it can emerge both by itself or alongside other health issues like mobility problems and issues with memory.

‘Happy Father’s Day to this fun, loving, generous, big hearted girl dad. We simply adore you,’ she wrote beside the upload.
The family rallied together earlier this year to share news of Bruce’s illness with fans, explaining that he would be stepping away from his decades-long career on the big screen due to health issues.
A joint statement shared across their various social media pages read: ‘To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

‘As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.
‘This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.

‘We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
‘As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn.’
