The sequel to surprise hit A Plague Tale: Innocence will be out this October and it’ll be on Game Pass from day one.

A stealth game set in medieval France, starring two ordinary young children, doesn’t sound like an obvious recipe for a hit video game but 2019’s A Plague Tale: Requiem was not only very good but surprisingly successful.

Naturally, that led to plans for a sequel (and a TV adaptation) and now A Plague Tale: Requiem has bucked recent trends by announcing that it hasn’t been delayed and will in fact be released on October 18, when it’ll be available day one via Xbox Game Pass.

It’s a next gen-only game, so will only launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. There will be a Nintendo Switch version, but it will run via the cloud, rather than working natively through the console itself.

The news was accompanied by a new 10-minute-long gameplay, featuring all the hallmarks of the original game, including hordes of plague infected rats and some hugely impressive graphics.

The trailer features Amicia and Hugo working their way through a quarry filled with soldiers, illustrating the various ways they can deal with them, despite not being typical action heroes.

Publisher Focus Entertainment has also released details, and a separate trailer, for the game’s collector’s edition, featuring the requisite statute of the two protagonists.

They’ve also revealed that the PC version of the game will make use of Nvidia RTX ray-tracing and DLSS features, which should ensure that, once again, despite not being the biggest budget title around it’s still one of the best looking.
