Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has revealed she went through some pretty bizarre intimacy training for her role in Sex Education, and it’s not what we were expecting.
The 27-year-old play Olivia Hanan on the hit Netflix programme, a member of Ruby Matthews’ (Mimi Keene) Untouchables, as well as Otis Milburn’s (Asa Butterfield) first official client in his school sex therapy business.
In the second and third seasons of Sex Education, Olivia and her boyfriend Malek Amir (Armin Karima) have a storyline about their sex lives and her orgasm face, and as you could image, it involves a lot of intimacy.
But, in preparation for those scenes, Simone and the rest of her cast actually had to watch snails mate.
Yep, you read that right.
‘We explored the movement of different animals to kind of portray different paces or different sexualities or how sensual something could be,’ Simone admitted to People magazine.

‘For example, we look to how snails mate, and when snails mate, they actually produce a plasma that intertwines.’
She added that the snail clips and other kinds of animal mating routines could inspire the actors with their own onscreen connections in intimate scenes.
‘So if it was a really sensual, slow kind of scene, we’d be like, “Oh, it’s like the snail”,’ she said, continuing: ‘So we would make it about that or how dogs mate or chimpanzees mate — it’s very like fast-paced and a different kind of style.’

While she managed to get over her orgasm-face-problems by with Malek, the actress has previously confirmed that she won’t be returning for the fourth season of Sex Education, as she’s returning for the third season of Bridgerton.
Olivia and Kate Sharma – the leading lady of Bridgerton season two – are entirely worlds apart, so it’s no surprise she won’t be keeping them both on.
