Jennifer Aniston honoured her father, John Aniston, as she presented him with an award at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday night.

The Friends actress appeared virtually to award her 88-year-old father with a Lifetime Achievement award for his 38-year portrayal on Days of Our Lives as Victor Kiriakis.

His soap co-star, Suzanne Rogers, introduced the award before Jennifer was shown praising her father, saying: ‘This is a truly special moment for me.’

She continued: ‘It’s an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it’s also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor, who also happens to be my dad.

‘John Aniston has been working in television consistently for over half a century,’ she added, highlighting his role as Victor since 1985.

‘You name it, I’m sure he’s been on it,’ she said, noting all the projects and soap operas her father has been on.

‘For over 30 years, his dedication to that show has gained him respect and admiration of his fellow actors, deep friendships and thrilled millions of fans around the world.

‘His career is literally the definition of lifetime achievement,’ she concluded.

Suzanne finished by thanking the academy and John’s loved ones on his behalf, as he was not there in person.

‘Thank you for this, and John I wish you were here.’

Last year, Jennifer skipped the Emmys despite four nominations for the Friends union, revealing she’d chosen not to join in with the large event because she was still ‘taking baby steps’ about socialising with other people amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘This is a big step for me to just be here. I’m just [taking] baby steps,’ the The Morning Show star added of appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as one of her first major post-quarantine outings.
